A Noble Profession

There are many professions out there which are considered as noble, for example being a doctor, engineer, architect, nurse, teacher, businessman, mechanic, police, firefighter, accountant, chef and so on. They are all noble as long as they don't go against the Shariah, right?

As for me, I think and strongly agree that the most noble profession in this world is teacher. Yes, being a teacher! Maybe you were like, "Come on, that's just a teacher, teaching and then going home, such an easy work". Nope! Dear future teachers, listen to me. As you're preparing to be a teacher, there are a plenty of responsibilities are awaiting for you because, being a teacher, you have to multitask. If you refer to the 'Hierarchy of 7M Teacher-Leader', the teacher has to be Mudarris, Muallim, Muaddib, Mujtahid, Murshid, Murabbi and Mujaddid to the students. It's not easy at all. Teacher must be given the highest salary out of all other professions because they are responsible to nurture, educate, impart the knowledge to the students and guide them to the right way so that they would be great contributors to the Ummah and the society in the future.

Are you ready to carry out all of these responsibilities? Being a teacher, you have to follow and practice certain conducts and ethics, as stated in the Code of Ethics. For example, you shouldn't be biased and show favoritism towards particular students, you have to think of their feelings, it would make them feel down and deflated. Moreover, you have to treat them as if they are your own children, because you are their guardian and parent at school. You also have to be a good role model for them. Practicing good conducts whether inside or outside the school is very important, because they would imitate your actions. Keep that in mind!

Teachers have to master their area of specialty. For example, if you are teaching Arabic language, you have to master that subject so that you could impart the knowledge to the students splendidly. If you're asked question which you don't know its answer, don't answer it immediately. Maybe you can search for it and find the correct answer, or assign your students with that question and become a homework for them so that they would get a better understanding. Or you can just pretend to be sick! haha just kidding. The most important thing, don't give them wrong answer merely because of you egoism. Don't feel shy to admit that you don't know.

All of these information I got from my evening class today, Ethics in Education subject, taught by Dr. Kamal J. I. Badrasawi. He's a very good lecturer, so kind. I love his way of teaching. I absolutely like his class! May Allah bless him. Aamiin ya Rabb. I'm a future teacher too, so I have to be well-prepared so that I could be a splendid teacher like my parents. In shaa Allah. There are many other tips I obtained, but I will be sharing it to you from time to time. Bye guys. Have a good day!
